Mad About Paris, Much more than a guide
This is not just an ice rink, this is the most picturesque skating spot worldwide: Today, Thursday 15th, the ice skating rink on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower opened. Here you’ll have a blast skating above the roofs of Paris.
There are four ice rinks in Paris, one in front of the Hôtel de Ville, one at the Trocadéro, one at Stade Charlety and one, of course, on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower. Skating up there is something you will not forget easily, trust me.
The ice rink on the Eiffel Tower is not the biggest one, but it’s definitely the one with the most stunning view. Imagine this: a 200m2 ice rink lodged between two of the tower’s massive steel legs. And now picture yourself floating and gliding 57 metres above the heads of ordinary mortals, Paris at your feet. Nice picture? It is, indeed.
The rink, dipped in a tangy pop light, is open every day from 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM. All you need is an entrance ticket to the first level. Ice skates will be provided, personal ones are not even authorised. For those with younger children it might be fun to get a sledge chair.
And then, once you move, you will surprised that interactive motion detectors will project pictures set off by yourself around the rink. So enjoy this pop experience and the stunning view over Paris. Afterwards you may wash your excitement down with a mulled wine with cinnamon. There are even apple strudels waiting for you. Apple strudels in Paris? I admit, this might be what you’d expect on the Christkindelmarkt in Vienna, but not here. But who cares? These are one of my favourite things: schnitzel with noodles, and crisp apple strudels while skating in the sky over Paris.Open every day from from 10:30 to 22:30 until 31st of January 2012
