Hôtel Fabric: For urban nomads
So many hotels opened lately in Paris, that it’s hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. But here is a perfect deal for the urban nomad looking for a home port in Paris: an old factory building in a lively, popular, but not too busy neighbourhood, redesigned with fresh colours and an industrial-vintage touch. What do you need more to feel good?
Hotel Fabric, which recently opened on rue Folie Méricourt in the 11th arrondissement, is located just between Place de la Bastille and Place de la République. You can easily walk to the Marais, Place de Vosges or even the Buttes Chaumont, a lovely park. On Tuesdays and Fridays there’s a nice local market just around the corner on boulevard Richard Lenoir.
It might be the magic of the beginning, but Hotel Fabric is very reasonably priced for what’s offering. Rooms start at 143.- Euros, count 214.- for a top floor room (number 406) which you can easily use as a family (price depends on the period, of course). This is definitely a nice deal for a four star house that offers all you might need: free wifi, an Ipad at your disposal, a small gym with electronic juke box, a spa with nice Haman and a private coach in case you prefer workout over hang out.
The bet for the architect and designers clearly was to keep the industrial setting of the house, the structure and some architectural features like the metallic framework and large, multi-paned windows and mix all this with a warm, modern spirit. Rooms are slightly different, each one with another colour. Go for the orange if you need energy or for the pink if you prefer it flashy. But there are also more masculine options like grey.
